Stress Management: Finding Balance in a World of Stress*
Stress has become a normal part of daily life for most Americans. “I’m stressed out” is a mantra that is repeated by most, and when uttered, the statement gains instant understanding and immediate resonance with others. We have come to accept stress as a constant companion, albeit one that we never consciously invited in and certainly one we’d like to evict. Yet in our fast-paced society with all of its demands, it can become challenging not to get caught up in the whirlwind of chaos that causes stress. If left unchecked, stress can lead to physiological and psychological distress and disease. How do we begin to pull back the reigns and regain control of our lives? How can begin to find the much-needed balance that is our soul’s calling? This workshop takes a holistic approach to stress management, inviting participant understand, assess, diagnose, and reduce stress in their own lives and the lives of their clients. This workshop incorporates the stress management technique of restful, guided meditation.
*The Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners certifies that this program meets the criteria for two and an one half (2.5) credit hours of Category I continuing education for social workers licensed in Maryland. These credits are also accepted by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors.
