Baobab Tree: A Celebration of Elders
Like the baobab tree, elders offer life, sustenance, nurture, and wisdom to all who care to tap into their powerful, life-giving reserve. Unfortunately, we live in a culture that glorifies youth, one which gives us the messages that
the older we become, the less valuable we are. This workshop is a celebration of elders, who, among indigenous cultures, serve as spiritual leaders, teachers, mentors, guardians of tradition, and initiators of the young.
Our opening, cleansing rhythm is one that celebrates our roots, our foundation, our heritage, our lineage, and our legacy. We play this rhythm to call forth the spirit of our ancestors and to honor the wisdom and spirit of our elders participating in this workshop.
The workshop will end with a rhythmic celebration where you will be invited to play a percussive instruments or use their own bodies as instruments as they clap, dance, tap, or sing, etc. All are invited and encouraged to a part of the healing energy, unity, and power that is being created.
